  • This waxed canvas anorak is designed and made in Eldorado, Australia from Australian-made materials by Peak Oil Company, which has overbuilt what is hands-down the best anorak anywhere.

We were able to pick up a few remaining Anorak Type 1’s…literally, just a few. These bad boys were too good for us to pass on. Grab one now and know that this anorak will redefine your understanding of heirloom quality clothing.

It is designed for maximum versatility, durability, simplicity and freedom of movement. Two double zippers run the full length of each side, allowing the anorak to be opened up to vent, make a poncho, cape or a ground sheet. Kangaroo leather is placed on the sleeve cuff and hand pocket edges to protect these high wear areas.

This anorak is made from waxed cotton canvas, brass YKK zippers and tagua nut slot buttons. No plastics or fluorocarbons are used in the production of any Peak Oil products. What the hell is a tagua nut?

The anorak can be treated for water repellency with any beeswax based fabric wax. It’s recommended to wax the anorak once a year. This allows the wax to thin as the season progresses into warmer and drier months. Re-wax it in time for the next wet season.

Leigh is trying to shift the current paradigm of consumerism in the clothing industry and his brand is a testament to that. He sources as locally as possible, constructs his products with purpose, and lives what he preaches.

    • Heavy duty Australian-made waxed cotton canvas in burgundy red or a very dark brown. [Red is 8 ounce, brown is 10 ounce.]

    • Large stormproof pockets. A kangaroo pouch sits in front of equally large hand pockets positioned for ease of access when carrying packs or wearing anything with shoulder straps or a belt.

    • Triple stitched seams. All seams double and triple stitched with waxed canvas bias binding or flat felled seams.

    • Kangaroo leather piping to reinforce the wear areas of the sleeve cuffs and pocket edges.

    • Tagua slot-style buttons. The neck, cuff and pouch openings are done up with 25mm (1 inch) tagua nut (not plastic) slot buttons for maximum strength, durability and ease of use with gloves on.

    • Fully openable sides. Double 2-way YKK metal zippers for dependable opening and closing of sides and arms for ventilation, making a very breathable and versatile anorak which converts into a vest, poncho, cape or groundsheet. You’ll appreciate this feature when wax reapplying season comes around.

    • Large sized hood with simple drawstrings for a comfortable fit that moves with your head.

    • Built-in high waist belt allowing you to trap warm air and adapt the fit to changing internal layers. Just twist the simple straps over one another and pull tight - half as much work as a shoe lace…and easy to replace if needed.

  • The anorak is designed to be roomy in the body and long in the arm. This is to ensure maximum coverage and freedom of movement while wearing and when pulling it over your head.

Before taking your measurements, we recommend wearing the clothes you’ll likely wear under your anorak.
